It shows techniques to help in a common kitchen all the way to the gourmet. It is a bit inefficient how it was transfered to dvd,you have to click on each item instead of watching it all the way through, but, it's nice that you can just watch one item if you are looking for a specific technique. The few actual cooking segments are not easy to find and you spend a lot of time going back and forth to the main menu. The set is instructional, but not entertaining. Jacques Pepin gives us opportunity of learning from master, but in simple understood way. Shipping was perfect, even to Poland :) Customer Rating: Summary: Chef Pepin is an excellent teacher Comment: As someone who trained at The French Culinary Institute, where Chef Pepin is Dean of Special Programs, I can tell you that this DVD will teach you techniques you thought you already knew. Chef Pepin is of course a master technician, but he is also someone from whom you will learn something new each time you watch him work. This DVD covers most basic techniques, and is certainly a steal at under 30 dollars. Like other reviewers, I only wish that PBS had enabled the viewer to "Play All," as I have watched the DVD beginning to end about 4 times, and this certainly would have been convenient. Once you acquire those basic skills, your culinary repertoire is limited only by your imagination. The Complete Pépin is an entire cooking course on DVD that features dozens of techniques that Jacques has sharpened over his decades in the kitchen.
