Customer Rating: Summary: Denise Austin's Fit Kids Comment: Seems like a great DVD for kids, although I've been too lazy (and busy) to do it with them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mom of 1 Comment: This product is okay, it is made up of two 20 minute sections. My four year old screams to watch it, but isn't motivated to stay with it too long. The Second half is a bit tougher for little ones to follow. The second section follows a whole family Mom, Dad, brother and sister ... It is more geard for beginner type adult then children. I love to do tae bo and found it rather boring.
The kids are entergetic in the video. All in All... maybe for older children 7-10?...
I say go for older...
Customer Rating: Summary: Denise Austin's Fit Kids is a great video Comment: The video is very well done. I appreciate that it has a segment for kids as well as one that involves the entire family. It is a great workout with lots of high energy. I researched for a long time to find a great video for my Fitness Literacy Kit and finally found one!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great way to get kids moving! Comment: This is the first workout DVD that I have purchased for my kids and they really like it. It is a great way to get my kids moving, especially on days when we are couped up inside. Denise Austin incorporates traditional exercise moves and dance moves to make this fun and she changes the exercises thoughout the routine, so it keeps the kids attention and keeps it interesting. It's a great way for families to work out together. I enjoyed the workout myself.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice intro to exercise for tween daughter Comment: I am amazed at all the technological ways kids can sit for hours and hours (TV, video games, computer). I wanted my kids to start putting in some active time to off-set the sitting time. I bought this video and have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy doing it with my 10-year-old daughter. (I don't think this video is intended for pre-schoolers.) Some other reviews said it shows too many faces, doesn't give enough instruction time, and gets boring. It does show lots of smiling faces which I think is a good subliminal to give to children that exercise is fun. We have not had any trouble doing any of the moves in spite of seeing faces. It does not show a step by step for each new exercise. I think this is where parental involvement comes in. I did the video first and then I can help my daughter with any tricky parts (which are a couple but not many). You can always use the pause button to practice a move, get a drink, etc. I think the message we should be giving is not that we have to do things perfectly the first time, but that we are improving and having fun. I think the nature of any workout DVD is that you hear the same things over and over and do the same moves over and over. I do not think that is a flaw unique to this video, but in the whole product genre and so I didn't rate lower because of that. If you want to not get bored, you need to go to a class with a live person that changes things each time. We have not done the family routine as much, just because we enjoy the one with all the kids better. The family routine is just a bonus in my mind. I appreciate the way Denise is positive, encourages the benefits of fitness and tells what skills are being developed: endurance, coordination, flexibility, etc. And as she says, "strong bodies = stong minds."
