Customer Rating: Summary: A bit too strenuous for beginners, but a good workout nonetheless Comment: Having watched and worked with a more basic power yoga video in the past, I was already more or less familiar with the postures and exercises in Rodney Yee's Power Yoga - Total Body Workout DVD. I really enjoyed the calming music and the spectacular scenery in which Rodney performs the workouts. It makes me feel just a little more "powerful", despite my presently somewhat flabby midsection! ;-D
I must admit, however, that I have not been able to make it through the entire set of workouts. It's just too strenuous for an office worker like me who leads a mostly sedentary life. Just 30 minutes of this video is more than enough to send sweat trickling down your brow and raise your body temperature and heart rate considerably. In fact, I usually feel exhausted but well-exercised after even 20 minutes of the basic workout - and I'm a 39-year old male who isn't in particularly terrible shape to begin with.
There are a few postures that I thought could use a bit more explanation or practice, but unfortunately, this video doesn't linger on the basics - it rolls right along from one pose to the next. I found that the pacing is easy enough to adjust to overall, once I ran through it a few times. I haven't lost weight with this DVD, but then again I think it's something you need to continue at least a few times a week, and I probably haven't given it enough attention.
Overall, as a general workout guide and a decent physical and mental diversion, I'd highly recommend this DVD, despite the more advanced nature of the postures and the no-nonsense, non-stop pacing.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great workout! Comment: I just love this video. It is not only well made, but the workout is really complete. It is not for beginners though. I like the way the material is presented, the voice of the narrator is not annoying at all and it is actually fun. I highly recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Comment: I LIKE THIS SOO MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OTHER VIDEO- IT IS REALLY GREAT & CHALLENGING.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great workout Comment: I think this video is a great workout for an experienced yogi. It is difficult enough to keep you challenged, but also serene and calming to aid your stressors. Love this video and love the man who made it! Definitely listen to his story, it's fascinating
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Workout Comment: This DVD provides an excellant workout, vigorous to me and a bit challenging since I am newer to yoga, but definately can do the routines.
I have been working through these and feel myself improving though I am still breaking things into small sections and working on those and feel like I am accomplishing alot.
Highly recommened.

Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger. --Joan Price
