Summary: Great Workout
Comment: This is a fantastic bodyweight and flexibility workout. Some of the moves take some doing to learn, but the persistance pays off. It is a long workout to do, but overall a worthwhile addition to anyones fitness library.

Summary: A Haphazard Approach
Comment: While the concept behind this book is admirable, there are serious flaws which will affect the practice of anyone who endeavors to faithfully follow through on the lessons. A major flaw is the failure to define breathing techniques. The approach to the various movements is almost on a child's level, with sappy encouragement (i.e. "You're doing awesome!" and similar unnecessary comments), but the fundamental need to breathe properly is never mentioned. Sifu's motto, "More chi! Train harder!" is repeated often in the text, but not how to increase that chi - which occurs by using specific breathing techniques in conjunction with the movements. The other unnecessary aspect of this book, possibly done to drive up the price, are the excessive full-page color photos of Sifu in different poses and garments at the beginning of each section. The meditations following each set of movements are also rather lame, focusing more on a view of the world through rose-colored glasses, rather than encouraging seekers to move through reality with equilibrium. My advice would be to not waste your money on this.

Summary: Shaolin Work Out !
Comment:
I would recommend this book to all my friends as well as to all those reading my review;who are seriously thinking of trying out a work out that really work. I personally feel the effects of following Sifu Shi Yan Ming shaolin Work. My only regret is that this book should have been publish a lot sooner.

Summary: Shaolin? Sure. Workout? No way!
Comment: The exercises in this "workout" are far from challenging. You could learn any (or all) of these techniques in your first week at any martial arts school. There is a certain inspirational spirit that the book does well with, and that's the only thing that saved this book from being a 1 star book.

Check out the used book section. How many are being sold (52 copies right now)? Why are so many trying to sell it? How is the price in comparison to the new price (starting at 9 dollars)? Why are people selling it for so little? It isn't just coincidence.

Editorial Reviews:

In his loft in New york City’s Greenwich Village, Sifu Shi Yan Ming trains men and women of all ages, body types and backgrounds in the fundamentals of kung fu. A 34th generation Shaolin Warrior monk from China’s Shaolin Temple—the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the mecca of all martial arts—Yan Ming teaches the students at his USA Shaolin Temple that there is no better workout program than his brand of kung fu for getting the body and mind into warrior condition.
Lavishly illustrated with hundreds of four-color photographs, the warrior workout, distills a lifetime of Shaolin training and wisdom into a 28-day workout.  This  complete-unto-itself program of both fitness and spiritual lessons can be applied to every aspect of one's life: work, relationships, family.

Kung fu gives a superb aerobic workout at the same time that it dramatically increases flexibility, power, and speed.. The ultimate promise of the book is this: readers who stick to the plan for 28 days—for as little as 15 minutes a day—will be transformed inside and out. And the enormous sense of accomplishment that results will radiate through their life, allowing them to tackle the world with a warrior’s confidence, calm, and poise.
