Customer Rating: Summary: Nothing special.. Comment: This book is a joke! All of the exercises are the beginning basic Pilates mat exercises, with slight variations. The exercises and photos are repeated 2 and 3 times throughout the book. There is nothing special or specific for post pregnant women...I was very disappointed since the author was supposed to be an expert in the field.
Customer Rating: Summary: great for abs Comment: Before pregnancy, I worked out all the time. During pregnancy I swam to keep fit. after pregnancy, i waited 8 weeks to begin exercise. this book makes it easy to do short work-outs next to the baby. never worry about going to the gym and the baby needing to be fed because you can work out right next to the baby sleeping in their crib. she breaks up the work-out in weeks. the first week was easy but it has great stretches in it. the second week is not that hard but it does work your abs well. I tried pilates before but was not very consistent. having baby fat and wanting to lose it have made this book a great addition to my workout! I have no worries because I know this book will give me better abs than I had before.
Customer Rating: Summary: watch your body transform - again! Comment: No longer will friends receive an adorable outfit or spa certificate upon their return from the hospital. I will be giving every new mom I know Ms. Adamany's book Post-Pregnancy Pilates. I was introduced to Pilates prior to my pregnancies and have successfully managed to return to pre-pregnancy (minus a few pounds) weight in six months, and am feeling fantastic. That said, I recently quit my job to spend more time with my wee ones and have no income to support private sessions or expensive classes.
Though nothing can undo the impact and marks left on our bodies from pregnancy, this method has worked wonders for me and now moms everywhere can use this incredibly accessible guide. The photos and explanations are clear and illustrate proper form extremely well. I love the time saving workouts - they're perfect to fit in during nap time! Ms. Adamany's witty writing (think Sex and the City) engaged me instantly and I was excited and motivated by this fit, fun mama. Make time for yourself and buy this book!
Customer Rating: Summary: ABsolutely FABulous Comment: As a Certified Pilates Instructor, I recommend this book to all of my clients who are mothers (recent or not so recent). They love that it is easy to read and understand. From a trainer's perspective this is important for motivation and the ability to stick with a program that needs to be squeezed in between feeding time and bath time. Adamany -based on her own personal experience - covers the absolute fundamental basics needed to re-discover the core muscles that are so abused during pregnancy and delivery. Once some abdominal awareness is regained, she does a great job progressing the reader through more challenging exercise sequences while also leaving room for "quick-fix" exercises, say a simple neck or lower back stretch. Please enjoy!
Customer Rating: Summary: fit body after baby Comment: I purchased this book for my 2 daughter-in-laws who have recently had babies. They love the approach Adamany takes to getting back in shape - using personal experience and giving extra tips with each chapter. The clear instructions and photos make it easy to follow. I use her first book - The Pilates Edge - and have found it helpful especially for biking and skiing.

Target and tone your post-pregnancy trouble zones.
Every new mother struggles to lose those extra pounds, regain her energy, and cope with the stresses of motherhood. Karrie Adamany, a mother and Pilates instructor, explains how Pilates is uniquely able to address the problem areas for women after they give birth, with its attention to strengthening and toning "the core"-the abdominal muscles, lower back, and buttocks-while also relieving tension and balancing mood.
With a straightforward and friendly voice of experience, Adamany guides new moms through four fitness stages after pregnancy with unique workouts that help restore the body after giving birth; melt away excess weight; tone and strengthen ab, butt, and thigh muscles; renew strength and energy; and relieve common aches and pains. She even shows women how to take their training off the mat by providing Pilates-inspired tips for carrying a baby, breast-feeding positions, and improving posture while working or doing housework. The Post-Pregnancy Pilates Book can help any mom get her body into even better shape than it was before pregnancy.
