Customer Rating:      Summary: disappointing and confusing Comment: I too was disappointed with the nutrition section. It would have been nice for the authors to give us some already laid out meal plans, as I found it very confusing and frustrating to create my own. Also, the 2 sample meal plans given have foods on them that conflict with the advice he gives about limiting your simple carbohydrates (skim milk specifically). However, their training section is good and well explained. It just scares me a little how many typos,careless mistakes, and bits of contradicting information were missed in the editing of this book. Good luck staying motivated with your diet after you read and attempt to follow the nutrition section.
Customer Rating:      Summary: Good programs and exercises Comment: This book is my primary source for weight training exercises. It has very detailed illustrated describtions of how to perform at perfect form and covers MANY varied exercises for the whole body.
I got this because I had been following my husbands verison for men with good results, but wanted a female specific version. This was worth the buy, since the exercises here are different. I especially like how it targets shoulders.
In my opinion (and I am a health care researcher) the sections on nutrition are bogus. Who would eat a meal of skim milk, flaxseed oil and whey protein every day? Meals have to be healthy, varied AND enjoyable! And their comments on not to eat fruit are downright wrong.
Buy this book if you want detailed weight training describtions and routines targeted for women.
Customer Rating:      Summary: A great resource for weight lifting Comment: This book is an excellent resource for weight lifting. In addition to providing photographs of women performing each exercise, it also provides information on the technique required to perform them safely and effectively. This book also gives sample programs for beginners through more advanced lifters, providing a framework for building a weightlifting program based on supersets. Although it provides some excellent information on why supersets are so effective, there is also some exercise and nutrition information in here that I do not agree with. However, it is an excellent resource for finding exercises. I would recommend it to beginning personal trainers who are looking for a resource for exercises as well as reminders about form and information on building a routine based on supersets. I would also recommend it for those who have the basics of weight lifting down but are looking to improve their technique and add additional exercises for better results and to mix things up. Overall, a great book for the exercises themselves, but not necessarily a book to be trusted for other information.

Customer Rating:      Summary: Great for Beginners Comment: I've always had a very high metabolism and always been able to eat what I want and never worry about gaining weight. That is, until I hit 25. I never knew how to exercise because I never felt like I needed to before. The original version of this book popped out at me at the bookstore one day and I bought it hoping maybe to get some insight. Wow. I am very pleased with the results I have gotten by following this program. I have since given that book to my mom and bought the revised edition and am still tickled. If you want to work out but don't know where to even begin, this book is definitely for you.
