Summary: outstanding Information !!!
Comment: A major compilation & presentation of amino & DNA sequences produced under the direction of Dr. Elvin A. Kabat, who received a National Medal of Science in 1991, for his "seminal contributions in the field of immunology". Contains new & expanded sections on T-cell reactors, ยง2-microglobulins, major histocompatibiltiy antigens, complement, thymopoietin, integrins, & post-gamma globulin. Covers 9,000 sequences, plus 3 indices: index of proteins, index of antibody specificities & index of references. Best seller!!

Summary: Archival, but important.
Comment: Obviously, not for light reading. And since it was published in '91, now it is falling out of date. But it is hard to find clear alignments of these proteins without someone to sort out all of the clutter, and this book is invaluable for that. Some websites can be found for certain classes of proteins (such as the human MHCs) that are excellent, but not for others (such murine MHCs) and so this book can be of tremendous help.
